Objective

To provide an opportunity to learn emergency traumatology and orthopedics in depth, so that emergency medicine doctors are able to examine an injured patient, stabilize vital functions and provide emergency medical assistance at the stage of pre-hospital and hospital reception departments.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.1. To set out the clinical and radiological diagnostics of the injury.
2. To formulate the principles of provision of emergency medical assistance in the pre-hospital and casualty stage.
3. To define principles of sorting and evacuation of injured persons in mass accidents with a large number of victims.

Skills

1.1. To perform primary assessment of the injured person (ABCDE algorithm).
2. To use modes of transportation of the trauma patient according to the indications.
3. To perform transport immobilization of various types.
4. To use bandages.
5. To perform emergency bleeding control.
6. To perform primary wound treatment and to suture wounds.
7. To perform secondary examination of the injured patient.
8. To interpret radiological examination of the trauma patient.
9. To classify the victims by severity of the injury.

Competence

1.Competences – independently examine the patient, diagnose the injury and substantiate the diagnosis with additional examinations, provide emergency medical assistance until delivery to the orthopedist - traumatologist.
