Objective

To provide knowledge of the innate and acquired immunity, types and mechanisms of immune response, methods and technologies of sero-identification and serological diagnosis.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.To describe the immunity of the human body - innate and acquired; recognize its main mechanisms; types and importance of immunocompetent cells; classes of antibodies and immunoglobulins, define the application of their detection in diagnosis. To describe and recognise bacterial and viral antigens.

Skills

1.• As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to practically carry out tests commonly used in laboratories for the detection of bacterial and viral antigens, interpret the results;
• As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to practically carry out serological tests commonly used in laboratories for the detection of antibodies, as well as interpret the results.

Competence

1.In case of various bacterial and viral infections, will be able to provide clinical advice on the obtained serological results and interpretation thereof.
