About Study Course
Objective
To deepen knowledge about health monitoring and its specific aspects for individuals engaged in sports; about health problems that may arise from participating in sports; about injuries, their prevention, and return to sport; the anti-doping ecosystem in sports and the aspects and consequences of doping use in sport.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the anatomy of the human musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, muscles); understanding of functionally significant anatomical structures related to the execution of movements and the risks of sports injuries; understanding of the functioning of the nervous system and the blood supply to tissues and blood vessels, which is essential in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of injuries; knowledge of aerobic and anaerobic energy production mechanisms; understanding of the adaptation of the cardiovascular, respiratory and muscular systems to physical exertion; knowledge of the physiological principles of exercise tolerance and recovery; understanding of the impact of physiological mechanisms on athletic performance; knowledge of more common chronic health conditions (SAS diseases, respiratory system diseases, metabolic disorders, etc.) that can affect safe sports; understanding of contraindications to physical exertion and necessary precautions; basic knowledge of the most common injuries of the musculoskeletal system (ligaments, tendons, muscles, joint injuries); understanding of the principles of acute, subacute and chronic phase rehabilitation; understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms associated with injuries, inflammation, pain and exercise intolerance; basic knowledge of the most important groups of drugs related to athletes' health (analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, bronchodilators, antihistamines, cardiovascular drugs, etc.).
Learning outcomes
1.Understand the importance of health monitoring for different groups of people engaged in sports.
1.Able to identify and assess the most common health risks, the influencing factors, and able to demonstrate skills to manage them.
1.Able to communicate effectively with athletes, coaches, specialists, and family members about health risks, injury prevention, and anti-doping issues.
