Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical and practical knowledge on the use of homoeopathic therapy for patients of different ages and disease groups in accordance with the requirements of the homoeopathic specialty.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.During the time allotted for the study course, the medical resident acquires knowledge:
• on how to use homoeopathy in specific clinical situations, including chronic and complex diseases;
• about the specifics of tests for collecting anamnesis, therapeutic tactics, posology, prognosis in each nosological patient group learned about during the study course;
• on what shall be treated in case of each specific patient;
• and complete understanding of the therapeutic method learned about in the study courses Therapeutic Homoeopathic Methodology I and Therapeutic Homoeopathic Methodology II;
• on how to develop treatment strategies for patients with different needs;
• on the specifics of approach, analysis, posology, homoeopathic management for patients of different age and disease groups;
• and understanding of the role and place of homoeopathy in integrated medicine in health care;
• and understanding of the possibilities of homoeopathic treatment and its limitations for individual patients;
• on when and how to seek specialist help, integrate homoeopathy practice into patient care and clinical case management;
• on the latest examination, diagnostic and treatment strategies of modern medicine and other branches of medical science.

Skills

1.As a result of completing the study course, the medical resident:
• uses an objective approach to each condition and works with it, taking into account holistic principles and applying the principles of homoeopathic philosophy;
• practically applies the theoretical therapeutic concepts of homoeopathy;
• understands exactly what needs to be treated and what different medicines treat, in order to understand the scope and limitations of homoeopathy;
• develops communication skills;
• acquires the ability to identify obstacles to homoeopathic treatment and use all possible means to eliminate them;
• is able to apply knowledge appropriately to health needs, including chronic and complex diseases;
• is able to reliably identify indicated homoeopathic medicines and distinguish between them;
• is able to interview a patient to obtain anamnesis related to the chief complaint and complete state of health;
• knows how to identify the disease process in order to perform differential diagnosis;
• is able to perform a physical examination;
• is able to recognise the basic characteristic features of the medicinal product indicated in specific clinical cases;
• is able to recognise the basic characteristic features of the medicinal product indicated for the same clinically conventional diagnosis;
• acquires an understanding of the value of conventional nosology knowledge;
• knows how to formulate treatment plans;
• knows how to develop, select and use suitable methods for solving complex problems;
• demonstrates openness, intellectual flexibility and adaptability;
• knows how to connect a certain problem with a wider wholeness;
• demonstrates critical examination and in-depth research skills;
• observes ethical and deontological principles in doctor-patient relations and communication;
• is able to demonstrate critical and analytical abilities;
• demonstrates communicative and interpersonal skills to communicate and interact with health care workers and colleagues, as well as patients;
• demonstrates deep knowledge and understanding of medicine in general.

Competence

1.After successful completion of the study course, the medical resident achieves the mandatory competence of a homoeopath:
• is able to practically apply the theoretical concepts of homoeopathy (principle of similars, vital force, minimum dose, potentiation and potency);
• to ensure appropriate patient management, integrate knowledge and skills required for homoeopathic case review, analysis, repertorisation and drug prescription;
• to identify and treat cases that require additional homoeopathic treatment;
• to use the knowledge learned in the study courses Materia Medica I and Materia Medica II, Therapeutic Homoeopathic Methodology I and Therapeutic Homoeopathic Methodology II;
• to be aware of the limits of personal competence and know when and how to seek specialist help, integrate homoeopathy practice into patient care and clinical case management;
• to practice medicine ethically, harmlessly and in compliance with the principles of health care and the philosophy of homoeopathy;
• to be able to coordinate the latest advances in science with one’s knowledge of homoeopathy to implement a better art of healing;
• to be able to analyse and synthesise using philosophical induction and deduction.
