Objective

To learn the basics of immunology, the basics of building specific immunity, incl. for children.
Classification of vaccines. Organisation of the vaccination process, vaccination of children. Improving knowledge about the aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention and basic principles of treatment of acute upper respiratory infections, SARS, MERS, vaccine-preventable infection, viral hepatitis, zoonotic infections in travellers, HIV/AIDS, etc.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.During the time allotted for the study course, the resident acquires knowledge about the basics of building specific immunity, incl. for children.
About the classification, composition, effectiveness of vaccines. Organisation of the vaccination process, including vaccination of children. Acquires and strengthens knowledge about the aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention and basic principles of treatment of acute upper respiratory infections, SARS, MERS, vaccine-preventable infection, viral hepatitis, zoonotic infections in travellers, HIV/AIDS, etc.

Skills

1.As a result of completing the study course, the medical resident will be able to evaluate the results of the specific immunity test, evaluate the planning of vaccination, as well as be able to apply the knowledge in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the aforementioned infections.

Competence

1.After the successful completion of the study course, the medical resident will be competent to examine a patient to establish the diagnosis and start treatment independently or under the supervision of a specialist.
