About Study Course
Objective
Acquisition of theoretical knowledge, experience and practical skills in specific and non-specific prevention of infectious diseases, aetiology, pathogenesis, clinic, course and treatment of microbial diseases, differential diagnosis of infectious diseases.
Learning outcomes
1.The resident will have acquired knowledge to:
- understand epidemiology of infectious diseases;
- recognise clinical manifestations of infectious diseases;
- understand specific and unspecific laboratory diagnostic algorithms, differential diagnosis of infectious diseases, basic treatment, medication (antimicrobials, antivirals, etc.);
- identify indications for hospitalisation;
- prescribe specific and non-specific prophylactic measures.
1.The resident will be able to:
- make an objective clinical examination and evaluation of an infectious patient;
- make decision about special diagnostic tests for laboratory diagnosis and differential diagnosis of infectious diseases;
- make decision about additional diagnostic procedures to clarify the diagnosis (computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, etc.);
- interpret the results obtained and prescribe appropriate therapy;
- make recommendations for further treatment and follow-up of the patient under the supervision of a general practitioner;
- provide emergency medical care in acute situations.
1.Upon completion of the study course, the resident will be able to:
- perform highly qualified and specialised diagnosis, treatment and prophylaxis of acute and chronic infectious diseases;
- advise other healthcare professionals, patients and patient relatives on issues related infectious diseases;
- participate in the promotion of public health and the prevention of infectious diseases.
