Objective

To train the medical residents of the specialty in dermatology, venereology in diagnosing and treating of skin manifestations of internal diseases, in ability to diagnose acute conditions in internal diseases and in establishing differential diagnosis of dermatovenereological and internal diseases.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Demonstrates the acquisition and development of in-depth understanding for the following topics:
1) History of internal medicine. Therapeutic investigation of a patient. Deontology in the clinic of internal medicine. Scheme of the medical case history of a disease in internal medicine. Laboratory and x-ray examination methods. Instrumental methods of examination. Ultrasound and other cutting-edge investigative techniques.
2) Diffuse connective tissue diseases.
3) Reiter syndrome, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and septic arthritis.
4) Osteoporosis and extra-articular rheumatism.
5) Crystal-induced joint pathologies.
6) Anaemia.
7) Myeloproliferative disorders, leukaemia and lymphomas.
8) Haemostasis and coagulation disorders.
9) Arterial hypertension.
10) Segment involvement score (SIS). Atherosclerosis.
11) Arrhythmias.
12) Heart valve pathology. Endocarditis and pericardial diseases.
13) Peripheral vascular disease.
14) Diseases of the oesophagus.

Skills

1.Therapeutic investigation of a patient. Measuring pulse rate and blood pressure. Electrocardioscopy. Electrocardiogram (ECG) recording. Holter monitoring. Veloergometry load test. Phonocardiographic examination. Echocardiography. Determining the velocity of the arterial pulse wave propagation. Venous reflux programme. Measuring the ankle-brachial index. Measuring lung vital capacity. Peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR). Key indicators of external respiration (VC, FEV1 and Tiffeneau index). Ultrasonoscopy.
Analysis of the results of radiological examinations.

Competence

1.After obtaining the certificate to be competent in working as a dermatologist and venereologist, to apply the knowledge acquired during the study process, to recognize and differentiate the skin and sexually transmitted diseases from other pathologies.
