Objective

To ensure the acquisition of knowledge on neurological symptoms and syndromes that is required for the diagnostic of nerve diseases in psychiatric practice.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knowledge on prevalence, aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, diagnostics and course (in accordance with ICD-10) of the most common neurological syndromes and diseases, tactics and methods of treating neurological diseases and emergency states, aspects of differential diagnostics in the events of disorders of higher nervous system functions in the amount required by a psychiatrist, division of competencies among various specialists.

Skills

1.Use of diagnostic and therapy methods used in neurology, including the collection of neurological anamnesis; observation, evaluation and description of patient’s neurological status in the amount required by a psychiatrist, basic skills in prescribing objective visual and electrophysiological examination methods of neurological syndromes and diseases and interpretation of examination data in the amount required by a psychiatrist.

Competence

1.Competencies in patient care, communication, cooperation and interpersonal skills, professionalism in management, organising and planning of care, ethical and legal issues, education and science that could ensure the prevention, diagnostics and rehabilitation of neurological disorders and diseases within the limits of the competence of a psychiatrist.
