Objective

To provide medical residents with the possibility to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the methods applied in laboratory diagnostics and experimental research projects. Understanding of making different experiments and execution and interpretation of results according to the standards of molecular biology in order to prepare a physician to read and understand the published experimental and clinical studies purposefully.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.To understand the clinical and experimental laboratory examinations and the related endocrine pathology theoretically and practically.

Skills

1.To understand the operation principles of the large laboratory analyzers (nephelometry, turbidimetry, etc.).
To learn correct interpretation of laboratory test results: clinical blood count, biochemical indicators, indicators of coagulation disorders and thromboses, hormonal indicators, urine tests.
To be able to assess different molecular biological examinations related to endocrine pathology. To understand the principles of making these experiments.

Competence

1.To provide a possibility to a medical resident in endocrinology to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for different laboratory examinations used in research, diagnosis and assessment of endocrine diseases.
