Objective

Promote understanding of the development of personality and social functioning, the etiology, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of psychosomatic disorders; to develop the skills of building a therapeutic relationship between a therapist and a patient; promote the learning and application of medical psychotherapy techniques in clinical work.

Prerequisites

Anatomy, physiology, pathological physiology, interpersonal communication in healthcare, basics of speciality.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students will acquire knowledge of the interaction of psychiatric and somatic processes, basic knowledge of personal development, psychotherapy process and competence in the development of a therapeutic relationship between a speech therapist and a patient.

Skills

1.Students will develop the skills to recognise psychosomatic symptoms, develop therapeutic relationships with the patient and gain skills in providing psychoemotional support.

Competence

1.Students will be able to analyze the biological, emotional and social factors of etiology and pathogenesis of disease. Understand and analyze the need for psychotherapy in patients with speech disorders, understand the diagnostic criteria and the need for combination of therapies.
