Objective

To provide basic theoretical and practical knowledge to civilian MF students:
• in military medicine (MilMed),
• MilMed standards of care,
• modular approaches in medical provision,
• principles of evacuation,
• introduce the tasks of MilMed in war, crisis and peace conditions,
• emphasize the role of MilMed in natural and man-made crises.
Students will be introduced to:
• with the physical and mental expertise and health assessment criteria of conscripted and already serving military personnel (Fit for Service),
• with outpatient treatment principles in MilMed institutions.

Prerequisites

Molecular and Cellular Biology, Medical Chemistry, Medical Physics, Human Anatomy, Medical Terminology, Medical Biochemistry, Physiology, Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Clinical Microbiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Medical Communication, Introduction to Clinical Medicine, Internal Diseases, Basics of Surgical Care, Pathology, Sports for health, Infectology, Surgical diseases I, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Various types of fitness.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Students will have the following knowledge:
- basic theoretical and practical knowledge of the Military medicine,
- standards of care,
- modular approach to medical support and evacuation principles and its tasks in conditions of war, crise and peace,
- criteria for physical and mental expertise and health assessment of military personal being recruited and already serving,
- outpatient treatment in Military medical facilities,
- role of the Military medicine in conditions of natural and human-caused crises.

Skills

Students will be able:
- to adapt their own actions to the requirements of Military medicine;
- to create a place of medical activities focusing on evaluation of individual’s health for fitness for military service and in war and crises conditions.

Competence

Students will be competent:
- to use basic knowledge, argumentation and logic to analyse situations identified in Military medicine;
- to discuss, to explain own opinion and constructively promote the achievement of professional goals and specific tasks in ensuring health of an individual (persons to be recruited or military persons) and civilians;
- to cooperate with and within of Military medical unit in a professional way, including medical colleagues in the atmosphere full of respect, observing national interests and medical ethical standards, respecting human rights and ensuring epidemiological safety.
