Musculoskeletal Radiology III (RRD_072)
About Study Course
Objective
To ensure acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in musculoskeletal radiology according to the requirements of radiology speciality regulations to prepare doctors for certification in radiologist’s speciality according to regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.
Learning outcomes
1.• To classify and briefly describe the normal anatomy of the musculoskeletal system and the most common anatomical variants.
• To differentiate between, analyse and briefly describe the clinic, radiological findings (X-ray, USG, bone densitometry) and the basic principles of treatment of the most frequent pathologies of the musculoskeletal system.
• To recognise, formulate and radiologically assess the significance of musculoskeletal CT scans, indications for i/v contrast administration, contraindications.
• To recognise, formulate and briefly describe the significance of musculoskeletal MRI scans, indications for i/v contrast administration, contraindications.
1.• To recognise, characterise and evaluate normal and abnormal findings on radiographs of the musculoskeletal system (X-ray and USG, bone densitometry).
• To distinguish between, interpret and explain the principles of musculoskeletal radiograph projections and the basic principles of their execution.
• To demonstrate, explain and use the basic principles and findings of musculoskeletal USG.
• To differentiate between, interpret and explain musculoskeletal CT protocols (including i/v contrast administration, arthrography) and their descriptions.
• To recognise, describe and evaluate musculoskeletal MRI protocols (including i/v contrast administration, arthrography) and their descriptions.
1.• To evaluate, substantiate and justify musculoskeletal radiographs and their descriptions.
• To plan, interpret and compare radiographic projections of the musculoskeletal system.
• To plan, interpret and justify musculoskeletal USG examinations, findings and descriptions.
• To plan, interpret and evaluate musculoskeletal CT protocols (including i/v contrast administration, arthrography) and their descriptions.
• To evaluate, substantiate and justify musculoskeletal MRI protocols (including i/v contrast administration, arthrography) and their descriptions.
