Objective

To ensure the development of medical residents’ competences in neurology and neurosurgery.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Medical residents are able to demonstrate in-depth and extensive knowledge and understanding of medical theories on neurology and neurosurgery, which meets the requirements of the specialty of anaesthesiologist, reanimatologist, which provides a basis for creative thinking in clinical practice and partly in research, as well as the ability to work in interdisciplinary interactions.
Able to describe the following:
- principles of diagnosis of nervous system damage;
- underlying intracranial pathology causing unconsciousness;
- effects of brain and spinal cord injuries on the respiratory and cardiovascular systems;
- therapeutic tactics in case of acute nervous system damage;
- methods of lowering increased intracranial pressure.

Skills

1.Medical residents are able to demonstrate successful performance of the manipulations included in the course description in a clinical setting.
Able to perform clinical examinations of the CNS and peripheral nervous system.

Competence

1.Medical residents are able to successfully apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and manipulation skills in the effective management of various clinical situations in neurology and neurosurgery.
