Objective

Ensure acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills according to the most common small circulatory diseases, investigative methods and therapy for doctors of the cardiology specialty.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.• defines the hemodynamic criteria and classification of pulmonary hypertension;
• knowledge of pulmonary hypertension aetiology, pathogenesis and risk factors;
• describe the clinical manifestations of pulmonary hypertension and the progress of the disease;
• knowledge of diagnostic algorithms, examination methods and differential diagnosis;
• describe the treatment options for pulmonary arterial hypertension, groups of medicines and their mechanisms of action;
• knowledge of the principles of risk stratification and patient monitoring;
• is familiar with current clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension.

Skills

1.• identify patients with possible pulmonary hypertension
• interpret the results of echocardiography, laboratory, functional and imaging examinations;
• evaluate indications for right cardiac catheterization;
• differentiate between different groups of pulmonary hypertension
• select appropriate diagnostic and treatment tactics;
• assess the effectiveness of therapy and the risk of disease progression;
• recognise signs of acute decompensation and initiate initial treatment.

Competence

1.• use an evidence-based approach in the care of patients with pulmonary hypertension;
• cooperate with a multidisciplinary team in the diagnosis and treatment of patients;
• provide the patient with understandable information about the disease, treatment and prognosis;
• integrate current guidelines into clinical decision making.
