About Study Course
Objective
To ensure the acquisition of nuclear medicine radiology for successful further implementation of studies in accordance with the requirements of the regulations of the radiology specialty in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of radiologist, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.
Learning outcomes
1.• To classify the physical aspects, techniques, radiopharmaceuticals used, indications, contraindications and limits of diagnostic nuclear medicine (scintigraphy, SPECT, PET/CT, PET/MR) examinations.
• To name and explain the mechanisms of action of radiopharmaceuticals.
• To formulate and briefly describe the basic principles of radiation safety in nuclear medicine radiology.
1.• To interpret, demonstrate and use thyroid, parathyroid, renal, skeletal scintigraphy examinations under the supervision of a certified physician.
• To differentiate between, interpret and explain myocardial perfusion examinations under the direct supervision of a certified physician.
1.• To evaluate, substantiate, and justify the most appropriate diagnostic nuclear medicine examinations to clarify a specific diagnosis and assess dynamics.
• To substantiate, compare and justify scintigraphic indications, basic principles of image interpretation. Diagnostic signs of common pathologies.
• To plan and justify patient education and informing the patient about the indications, contraindications, rules to be followed before and after the scintigraphic examination.
