About Study Course
Objective
To ensure the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in outpatient and inpatient work in order to prepare the resident for certification in the specialty of internist, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.
Learning outcomes
1.Acquires theoretical and practical knowledge about risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options of internal diseases.
1.Recognize various internal diseases in patients, define possible pathology, investigation and organize treatment. Independently apply acquired knowledge in solving medical problems, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, care. Ability to perform practical manipulations. Evaluate, detect and prevent possible risk factors for the development of various internal diseases. Orientate yourself in the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of preparations. To understand and interpret the results of various examinations (laboratory, radiological, morphological), to know and practically apply methods of conservative treatment and prevention of internal diseases. Critically evaluate specialized literature and base your clinical decisions on the foundations of evidence-based medicine.
1.Ability to independently apply acquired knowledge in solving medical problems, diagnosis, treatment, care and prevention of internal diseases. Ability to perform practical manipulations. The resident has acquired the skills to work in a health care organization, as well as in education and research.
