About Study Course
Objective
To ensure acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in paediatric radiology according to the requirements of the radiology speciality regulations to prepare doctors for certification in diagnostic radiologist’s speciality according to regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.
Learning outcomes
1.• To collect, formulate and classify radiological findings of paediatric anatomy and the most common congenital developmental norm variants, sequentially arrange the radiological findings of the child’s normal development.
• To recognise, formulate and sequentially arrange paediatric age-specific pathologies, their clinical and radiological manifestations in X-ray and USG examinations.
• To name and briefly describe the indications and importance of USG and radiography in children.
• To formulate and briefly describe the principles of radiation safety in paediatric radiology.
1.• To recognise, characterise and evaluate normal and abnormal radiological findings of thoracic, abdominal cavity, skeletal radiographs at different stages of child development under the direct supervision of a certified physician.
• To differentiate between, interpret and explain the indications, contraindications and radiological findings of barium or equivalent contrast media examinations at various stages of child development under the direct supervision of a certified physician.
• To interpret, demonstrate and apply hip joint, pleural space, abdominal, musculoskeletal USG examination indications and normal, pathological radiological findings at various stages of child development under the direct supervision of a certified physician.
1.• To evaluate, substantiate and compare paediatric thoracic, abdominal and skeletal radiographs and their descriptions under the direct supervision of a certified physician.
• To plan, interpret and justify paediatric radiographic contrast examinations of the gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract under the direct supervision of a certified physician.
• To plan, evaluate and justify paediatric USG examinations and their descriptions under the direct supervision of a certified physician.
