About Study Course
Objective
To provide in-depth learning and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills on musculoskeletal injuries, diseases and congenital pathologies in children and adolescents, in accordance with the requirements of the orthopaedic speciality.
Learning outcomes
1.The knowledge acquired will enable the student to:
a) recognise and define the pathology found in each case,
b) assess the clinical symptomatology of the patient, describe and explain the principles of treatment and rehabilitation required,
c) predict the course and consequences of disease, injury.
1.The student will be able to:
a) examine a child and adolescent with an injury or disease;
b) summarise and describe the findings of the examination, and select the appropriate treatment method,
c) perform closed repositioning of a fracture or dislocation and apply appropriate immobilisation,
d) perform emergency wound dressing and care,
e) apply skeletal extensions,
f) select an appropriate rehabilitation programme.
1.Students will be able to use the acquired knowledge to:
a) analyse the determined treatment results and prepare a presentation or publication,
b) logically explain the necessary methods of investigation and treatment,
c) draw up the necessary treatment and rehabilitation programme,
d) evaluate and predict treatment outcomes.
