About Study Course
Objective
To initiate personal and professional development; to provide theoretical knowledge of homoeopathic ethics, deontology, legal basis of professional activity.
Learning outcomes
1.During the time allotted for the study course, the medical resident obtains knowledge about the following:
• medical and social ethics;
• the deontology of homoeopathic medicine;
• the ethics of medical homoeopathic research;
• setting goals and organising personal activities;
• the main laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia and the European Union related to the practice of homoeopathy;
• the main laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia relating to the pharmaceutical sector in general and homoeopathy in particular.
1.As a result of completing the study course, the medical resident learns the principles of professional ethics:
• not to influence the patient, the doctor only gives advice;
• to treat the patient as a peer;
• to respect the patient’s own responsibility;
• to take into account the patient’s philosophy of life;
• to pay reasonable attention to the problem presented by the patient and devote sufficient time to the consultation;
• to carry out only the treatment to which the patient has consented (after they have been sufficiently informed);
• to establish a relationship with the patient based on mutual trust so that the patient can express any problems or dissatisfaction with the doctor;
• to find other medical help for the patient if necessary;
• to comply with the legal basis of professional activity.
1.After successful completion of the study course, the medical resident achieves the mandatory competence of a homoeopath:
• critical understanding of theoretical homoeopathic concepts for further application in clinical practice, able to explain and justify them to others;
• demonstrates empathy and a holistic approach to patients;
• is able to practise medicine in an ethical and safe manner, respecting the principles of health care and the philosophy of homoeopathy;
• is able to respond competently, scientifically soundly and diplomatically to a lack of confidence in the method by persons who are not competent in homoeopathy;
• is familiar with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia and the European Union related to the professional activity of a homoeopath.
