About Study Course
Objective
To ensure the acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in psychiatry in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of sexologist, sexopathologist, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Republic of Lithuania.
Learning outcomes
1.Show and systematize knowledge about the epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, clinic and diagnosis of mental and behavioral disorders (according to ISK-10); the basic principles of prevention, medicinal and psychotherapeutic treatment of mental diseases; the psychiatrist's role in the medical care system.
1.Perform full psychiatric diagnosis, detect, assess and describe basic psychiatric symptoms; differentiate the norm from mental pathology, assess the risk of suicide; to empathically and sensitively interview patients with mental disorders, to be aware of the importance of therapeutic relationships in psychiatry; evaluate and plan the type of patient care; be able to assess the impact of family relationships and social conditions on the patient; be aware of the basic principles of multidisciplinary team work and be able to participate in it.
1.Carry out care planning, organization and treatment of mentally ill patients; evaluation of treatment results. To observe the principles of medical deontology in psychiatric care; be sensitive to the patient and their family members; explain the nature of the disease to the patient and his family members; to be able to integrate the latest scientific achievements in psychiatry in daily work and research development.
