Objective

To provide basic knowledge of the theories of personality, personality functioning levels and personality structure. To provide knowledge of the psychoemotional and somatic factor interactions in etiopathogenesis of psychosomatic disorders. To provide knowledge of manifestation of chronic pain in dentist's practice.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Basic knowledge of interaction between personality structure, development and functioning; interaction between mental and somatic processes and psychosomatic aspects in practice. Knowledge about psychosocial impact of dental and facial apperance.

Skills

1.Will develop skills to analyze different personality characteristics and relationship examples; develop skills to analyze clinical cases in practice from psychosomatic view. Skills in giving supportive therapy elements in orthodontist - patient relationship.

Competence

1.To recognize psychosomatic disorders in practice and recommend consultation with a psychotherapist. To give supportive therapy elements.
