Objective

The aim of the course is to acquire the German language for daily communication at levels A1/A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning, Teaching and Assessment, at the same time developing students' intercultural understanding and awareness, developing effective oral and written communication skills in the context of intercultural and interpersonal communication, strengthening the ability to identify and apply diversity aspects to successful international business communication.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

The ability to use standard vocabulary of German in oral or written communication, the ability to identify and differentiate between affirmative and interrogative forms in simple sentences; the ability to recognise and determine the right word order in the sentence; the ability to find in the text the necessary information; the ability to use the necessary phrases to start and maintain a conversation, to deliver information; the ability to identify the most frequent German language structures, the ability to identify if the given statement or text is related to present, past or future.
Students are aware of the aspects of intercultural relations in the use of language.

Skills

Students will be able to comprehend simple texts on definite everyday issues, letters, invitations, advertisements in the press and other authentic materials, will gain the skill to use acquired language structures in everyday communication, to retell and paraphrase the text expressing own opinion, including the consideration of intercultural communication aspects.

Competence

The competence to deliver brief personal information, information about your relatives, living conditions and studies, the competence to write an invitation and private letters, short messages, to fill in blank forms in a hotel, to write down simple information; the competence to make a monologue or dialogue on various topics related to social life and your studies, while demonstrating awareness of the intercultural aspects of communication.
