About Study Course
Objective
To ensure the acquisition of thoracic radiology for successful further implementation of studies in accordance with the requirements of the regulations of the radiology specialty in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of radiologist, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.
Learning outcomes
1.• To name, explain and radiologically evaluate the normal anatomy and congenital variants of the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, mediastinum and thoracic wall organs.
• To recognise, formulate and briefly describe the radiological signs of interstitial lung diseases, focal changes, chronic inflammatory and obstructive diseases, radiological differential diagnostic techniques.
• To explain and radiologically evaluate the normal anatomy of the mammary glands.
• To name, explain and radiologically evaluate mammography, ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging examinations and their indications in mammary gland examination.
• To sequentially arrange and briefly describe the BI-RADS classification, its application in mammography.
• To name and explain the indications and contraindications for interventional mammary gland procedures.
1.• To recognise, describe and evaluate normal and abnormal thoracic radiographs and descriptions.
• To demonstrate, interpret and explain ultrasonography of the pleural space, perform pleural puncture.
• To plan, interpret and evaluate normal and abnormal thoracic CT protocols and descriptions.
• To plan, interpret and radiologically evaluate mammary glands and axillary region under the supervision of a certified physician.
• To interpret and describe mammography examinations, apply BI-RADS classification under the supervision of a certified physician.
• To plan, interpret and radiologically evaluate interventional breast procedures under US and X-ray control under the supervision of a certified physician.
1.• To evaluate, justify and describe normal and abnormal radiographs and CT scans of the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, mediastinum and thoracic wall.
• To differentiate, evaluate and measure abnormal contents in the pleural space on thoracic radiographs and by ultrasonography, specifying the puncture site under the supervision of a certified physician.
• To differentiate, evaluate and describe physiological variants of the mammary gland from pathology in mammography, USG and MRI examinations.
• To evaluate and justify the most appropriate radiological examination for the assessment of breast pathologies.
