Assessment
Unaided Work:
Individual acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in compliance with the topic of each class; independent study of the given literature. Please fill in the course evaluation form at the end of the course.
Assessment Criteria:
During the practical classes, the teacher observes and evaluates the student's communication skills and attitude towards patients, teachers, group members and other medical staff. Each lesson is preceded by a short discussion on the topic. The teacher asks questions about the theory, expecting oral answers. Active participation in practical classes: examination and evaluation of patients, observation and assistance of surgical operations. The clinical work performed by the student in the practical classes must be regularly reflected in the "Student's diary in oral and maxillofacial surgery", and a signature must be received from the teacher in time. Each student writes a patient's medical history, which is presented in the relevant seminar. Content of the examination (part 1 for the examination "Oral and maxillofacial surgery", the examination takes place after the 9th semester): 1) oral answers to 3 theoretical questions, (50%) 2) answers to questions about a described clinical case without prior preparation, (30%) 3) X-ray image recognition and analysis, (5%) 4) prescribing medication (specific medicinal product, dosage, method of administration), (5%) 5) evaluation of the clinical work performed during the semester, which is reflected in the "Student's diary in oral and maxillofacial surgery", discussion (10%).

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:As a result of the study course, the student will be able to present basic knowledge about the types of inflammatory diseases and injuries of the oral and maxillofacial region, the mechanisms of their occurrence, principles of diagnosis and treatment.
Skills:Strengthened local and general examination skills of patients (palpation, auscultation). As a result of the study course, students will be able to collect a targeted anamnesis and clinically examine a patient with inflammation and trauma of the oral and maxillofacial region, make a temporary diagnosis, send for X-ray and other additional examinations, interpret X-ray and laboratory examinations, determine treatment location. In case of injuries, provide emergency care and impose temporary immobilization, refer the patient for specialized treatment to an appropriate institution. Will be able to make intraoral incisions and prescribe medical therapy.
Competencies:Will be competent to use acquired knowledge about injuries and inflammatory processes in the oral and maxillofacial region, to formulate diagnoses and differentiate from other diseases. Able to analyze examination data and evaluate the patient's treatment options in general dental practice, to provide treatment as needed. Demonstrates the principle of emergency care, performs temporary immobilization, prescribe medical therapy. Able to assess the need and refer the patient for further treatment to a specialist.. The students will recognize the necessity for lifelong learning.
