| Preliminary Knowledge: | Having completed one elective Latvian course or the 5th semester's mandatory course in Latvian. | ||||||||
| Objective: | To learn commonly used vocabulary and deepen conversation skills necessary to interview a patient efficiently: complaints and diseases, affecting factors, lifestyle; sentence building. | ||||||||

| Unaided Work: | Individual work – memorizing listed vocabulary of the corresponding topic. | ||||||||
| Assessment Criteria: | At the end of each semester – an oral test on the topics covered during the semester: a conversation with a patient according to a given pattern. The final grade consists of the 1st-semester test results (50%) and 2nd-semester exam results (50%). At the end of the course, every student must fill the course evaluation survey. | ||||||||

| Knowledge: | On successful completion of the course students will be able to use vocabulary describing symptoms and their progress as well as list factors that affect one's health. | ||||||||
| Skills: | On successful completion of the course students will be able to formulate questions in Latvian about various aspects of symptoms and grasp the point of the answer. | ||||||||
| Competencies: | On successful completion of the course students will be able to use the skills they gained in their previous Latvian courses to interview patients about their complaints in detail. | ||||||||
