On 1 and 2 December this year, Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) will host partners and experts of the international project JADE Health (Joint Action Addressing Dementia and Health) at its premises at Anniņmuižas Boulevard 26A, Riga. Participants from several European countries will gather to discuss current issues related to the prevention of dementia and other neurological disorders, early diagnosis, care, and the promotion of health literacy.

The General Assembly will bring together European health policy makers, researchers, healthcare professionals, representatives of patient organizations, and other stakeholders who will present updates on the project's progress, methodology, sustainability, health literacy initiatives, data accessibility, and the early detection of neurocognitive disorders.

JADE Health is a Europe-wide initiative aimed at improving health across European Union Member States by reducing the burden that dementia and other neurological disorders place on individuals and society. The project places particular emphasis on disease prevention, early diagnosis, awareness raising, and providing support for patients, their families, and care professionals.

The project involves 44 organizations from 17 European countries. In Latvia, it is implemented by the Institute of Public Health at Riga Stradiņš University in cooperation with the Riga East Clinical University Hospital. The project is coordinated by the Spanish organization FundeSalud.

The opening session of the Assembly will include addresses from representatives of RSU, the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization, and non-governmental organizations. Several thematic work streams will also be presented, covering project management and coordination, communication and dissemination of results, evaluation methodology, sustainability, health literacy improvement, and the early detection of neurocognitive disorders.

"Dementia and other neurological disorders are becoming an increasingly significant public health challenge across Europe. International cooperation is essential for identifying the most effective solutions for prevention, early detection, and patient care,"

project representatives emphasize.

The event highlights RSU's important role in international health research and collaboration, promoting knowledge exchange and the implementation of innovations to improve public health in Latvia and across Europe.
