Students, school pupils, the university's employees and anyone interested are invited to attend a guest lecture by Professor Dr Thomas F. Schaller. The lecture is taking place as part of a series of guest lectures on the upcoming US presidential election that began in autumn 2019. The professor will report on the current activities of the presidential campaign and the most likely scenarios.

Dr Schaller is a professor of political science at the University of Maryland specialising in the US presidency, elections, lobbying and interest groups. He is the author and co-author of numerous books (The Stronghold: How Republicans Captured Congress but Surrendered the White House, Whistling Past Dixie: How Democrats Can Win Without the South). The professor actively publishes commentaries on domestic policy matters in The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and other newspapers.

The lecture will be held in English.

The event is organised in cooperation with the US Embassy in Latvia.
