From 28 – 30 June a seminar titled Qualitative Research in Primary Health Care will be held at RSU, 16 Dzirciema iela, Block B, Auditoriums 202 and 203. Working language – English.

The seminar is organised by the Department of Family Medicine at the RSU Faculty of Medicine, in conjunction with professors from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Antwerp, the RSU Department of Nursing and Midwifery of the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare. The seminar will be held on 28 and 29 June  from 9:00 to 17:00, 30 June – from 9:00 to 15:00.

The seminar is supported by the Centre for Educational Growth and the Latvian Association of Rural Family Physicians. 

The seminar will be led by:

  • Lieve Peremans – M. D., Ph. D., Professor at University of Antwerp, Department of Primary and Interdisciplinary Care and the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. He is also involved in the Mental Health and Wellbeing Research Group at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Involved as an expert  – qualitiative research on themes such as the general medicine workforce and violence against children as well as development of guidelines.
  • Paul Van Royen – M. D., Ph. D., Professor at University of Antwerp, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Academic work focuses on teaching in primary care and research, coordination of a number of teaching modules and programmes for Bachelor's and postgraduate diploma students. He has established a research centre at the Department of Medicine with vast experience in qualitative research and projects in a number of other research areas. The professor has given numerous presentations at international congresses.

Seminar participants: teaching staff from the Department of Family Medicine and Department of Paediatrics of the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Nursing and Midwifery of the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare, doctoral students, graduate medical students and representatives from the Centre for Educational Growth.
