This year’s first Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Open Day was held on 25 January to inform potential international students about study opportunities offered by RSU in English. The event, organised by the RSU International Department (ID), features an varied programme that includes an interactive presentation, question and answer session with the ID staff and RSU student representatives, a visit to the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre and dentistry preclinical centre, microbiology laboratory, Student Hostel and RSU main building, as well as individual consultations.

RSU regularly welcomes 20-70 potential international students from other countries, mainly from Germany, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Italy, Great Britain and Netherlands to Open Days events that are held several times per semester. Occasionally accompanied by their families, applicants also arrive at RSU from far-off countries – Israel, USA and Taiwan.

“RSU Open Days are a significant event providing an opportunity for prospective students to get to know the university personally. Often we hear that participation in the Open Days event encouraged them to apply for studies at RSU. International competition in higher education is tough, therefore a personalised consultation and attention to each prospective student are essential,” explains Māris Ginters, Head of the International Admissions Office.

Four Open Days events are scheduled this semester. The next event will take place in March..

International candidates are welcome to apply for studies at RSU twice a year. The application period for the autumn semester will start on 1 March.

Currently, there are over 2350 international students representing 56 countries at RSU. They are studying medicine, dentistry, nursing and rehabilitation at undergraduate level, as well as Public Health and Social Work with Children and Youth at postgraduate level.
