On 6 December, a celebratory opening of the new Autoimmunity Centre was held at the Riga East Clinical University Hospital (Rīgas Austrumu klīniskā universitātes slimnīca, RAKUS). The centre aims to conduct in-depth scientific research on autoimmune diseases and promote the hospital’s doctors and residents’ involvement in scientific research activities, as well as international collaboration.

In collaboration with Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), leading physicians at RAKUS from various specialties, amongst others rheumatology, neurology, and endocrinology, will participate in various international grant studies and start building a research data platform. This will foster international exposure in the future and pave the way for more publications in respected international journals, thereby improving treatment opportunities for patients with autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases.
