On April 25, the Rīga Stradiņš University Latvian Academy of Sport Education (RSU LASE) hosted an Open Day excursion with secondary school students from various schools across Latvia. The aim of the excursion was to offer the young people an opportunity to learn about the study programmes in the field of sports, the academic environment and academic opportunities at RSU LASE.

Rodrigo Laviņš, a doctoral student at RSU, lecturer at RSU LASE, three-time Olympic Games participant, and former Latvian national ice hockey team player, shared his professional experience and the importance of the studies in the development of his career as an athlete. A second-year student Sofja Žagare introduced the school students to the daily life and activities of students at RSU LASE.

The participants of the excursion were also addressed by Asst. Prof. Inese Ļubinska, who introduced the students to the Academy's study programmes and career opportunities in sport education. RSU LASE Deputy Director, Assoc. Prof. Kalvis Ciekurs provided insight into the research process and the opportunities offered by the Academy for future sports professionals at the Sports Healthcare Research Centre.

Participants actively engaged in discussions, asked questions about the content of the studies, placement opportunities and further career development in the field of sports. There was also great interest in the Sports Healthcare Research Centre, where the visitors had the chance to learn about methods for assessing athletes' physical abilities and scientific work in the field of sports.
