Researchers’ Night Held at RSU
On 25 September, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) welcomed visitors to Researchers’ Night at two locations – the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre (METC) and the RSU Red Cross Medical College. Together, the two venues welcomed nearly 3000 visitors. Families with children and young people took part in workshops, tried hands-on activities and watched demonstrations exploring medicine, sport, social sciences, pharmacy, forensic science and other fields.
Visitors to the METC could choose from more than 50 activities. As in the past years, the dentistry activity was the most popular, giving visitors a chance to try filling a tooth. The military medicine activity also attracted considerable interest: participants learned how to dress wounds and move an injured person, and took on a rescue challenge in an immersive environment. Visitors also explored the ICU ward and operating theatre, learned about the work of an ear, nose and throat specialist, had their body composition measured using bioimpedance with nutrition science specialists, and got hands-on in the 3D laboratory.
Activities making their Researchers’ Night debut were especially well received. These included the mobile studio of RSU student media outlet Skaļāk, a student short film festival and an escape game organised by the RSU Library.
At the RSU Red Cross Medical College, visitors explored the world of microbes and anatomy, practised first aid, learned about medicinal plants and how medicines are made, and tried therapeutic massage techniques. The activity stations gave them a chance to put what they had learned into practice straight away.
A big thank you to all the colleagues, students and partners who prepared and led the Researchers’ Night activities, and to the more than 100 volunteers who helped welcome visitors and keep the event running smoothly.
See you at Researchers’ Night 2027!
