Professor Romans Lācis celebrates 80th birthday

On 20 January 2026, the Rector of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), Prof. Aigars Pētersons, and the President of the Senate, Prof. Jānis Gardovskis, congratulated Prof. Romans Lācis, Head of the Advisory Board of the Cardiac Surgery Centre at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (PSCUS) and professor at RSU, on his 80th birthday.
Prof. Lācis is one of the leading cardiac surgeons in Latvia. He is the head of the Cardiac Surgery Residency Programme at RSU, passing on to students the knowledge and professional experience he has gained during more than fifty years of clinical work.
Through his work and authority, Prof. Lācis has significantly contributed to the development of medical education at RSU, helping to train several generations of young cardiac surgeons. At the same time, he continues his active professional activity at PSCUH, which allows RSU students to learn from an outstanding practitioner.
