Researchers from the (R)E-TIES project at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) took part in the international panel discussion The Human Side of a Researcher: Relationships and Career Journeys, held on 12 November 2025 at the UCL Institute of Education in London, United Kingdom.

The session was chaired by project (R)E-TIES researcher Olga Cara, Associate Professor in Sociology of Education at UCL Institute of Education and RSU. The panel brought together researchers from different countries, disciplines, and career stages to reflect on the human dimensions of academic life, including relationships, emotions, and life transitions.

During the discussion, (R)E-TIES researcher Ieva Puzo presented on researcher mobility from a life course perspective, highlighting how career trajectories are shaped by personal and professional transitions. (R)E-TIES researcher Aija Lulle (University of Eastern Finland / RSU) contributed with a presentation on place-making and affect in researchers’ careers, focusing on how researchers create meaning and belonging across different locations.

The panel provided a platform for sharing personal experiences and research insights, fostering dialogue on how to support more inclusive, empathetic, and sustainable academic career pathways.
