Reproductive Justice in the Climate Crisis: Lecture at the “Papardes zieds” Summer School

From 14 to 16 August, RSU Lead Researcher and Lecturer Jana Kukaine participated in the Papardes zieds Summer School, engaging with medical students, future healthcare professionals, and researchers. This year’s programme focused on sexual and reproductive health from a range of disciplinary perspectives.

Jana Kukaine’s lecture addressed the urgent questions at the intersection of reproductive justice, inclusion, and climate change, characterised by the exploitation of natural resources, increasing environmental degradation, and profit-driven forms of economic activity. The lecture invited participants to consider how social inequality, women’s rights, and autonomy in reproductive decision-making intersect, shaping future scenarios for both reproductive health and community resilience in times of crisis.

The lecture was organised as part of the activities of the Intersectional Gender Equality Working Group, which aims to promote an intersectional approach to gender equality and inclusion, with particular attention to the interplay of social, economic, and environmental factors in biomedical research.
