Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will host RSU Research Week 2023 from 27 to 31 March. The conference will bring together scientists, students, cooperation partners, representatives of public administration and non-governmental organisations, including diaspora organisations.

During the event, five international conferences will take place at the university, which will be held both in person and online. Topics will range from health care and medicine to social sciences. RSU International Research Week is held every two years – the previous series of conferences in 2021 gathered around 6,500 participants from 45 countries with more than 1,300 research papers presented. Both young and experienced researchers are invited to submit their abstracts for Research Week 2023 by 30 December.

‘RSU is a research university on a European level. We are characterised by internationality not only in our studies, but also in the research environment. This is confirmed by the fact that RSU has been ranked the best higher education institution in Latvia in the SCImago Institutions Rankings international rankings of academic and research institutions for the fourth consecutive year.

In addition to our internationality, research at RSU purposefully combines both of the University's strengths – health care and social sciences. At Research Week, we will showcase our capabilities in both fields and in various interdisciplinary formats,’ explains the President of Research Week 2023, RSU Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons

Achievements in science are a priority for RSU, therefore, participation in this series of conferences will be free of charge.

Research Week will be held in English. As usual, the event will start with the 9th International Student Conference on Health and Social Sciences, which last year attracted more than 3,000 participants from more than 35 countries. Students from all degree levels are invited to submit their abstracts by 13 January 2023.

Three conferences will take place simultaneously between 29 and 31 March: the conference Knowledge for Use in Practice on medicine and healthcare; the interdisciplinary conference Society. Health. Welfare that brings together health professionals, social workers, sociologists, political and public relations specialists, economists, lawyers, philosophers, educators and others; and the interdisciplinary conference PLACES that brings together political science, law, economics, communications, and other social science experts. The series of Research Week conferences will conclude on 30 and 31 March with the University Teaching and Learning conference on technology and education.

RSU organises Research Week in cooperation with a number of partners and sponsors, including industry organisations, strategic partners in Latvia and abroad, including diaspora organisations.
