The 27th EADPH Congress

It will discuss public health issues such as the provision and sustainability of universal health coverage. The theme of the congress is "Sustainability in dentistry - a multifaceted approach".

Congress language: English

The congress will feature top speakers from Denmark, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, and the UK, as well as representatives from the World Health Organisation and the European Commission. The experts will share their experience in effectively reducing the burden of oral diseases on the healthcare system, in this way ensuring the sustainability of the system.

Around 200 dentists and academics with an interest in public health from around the world are expected to attend the congress. The programme includes lectures, special interest groups, and presentations of scientific abstract over three days. There will also be social events in the evenings and a panel discussion on Saturday. As the Congress will be held in a hybrid format, i.e. both onsite and online, even more participants from all over the world will be able to join the event and gain experience.

On Saturday, there will be presentations on good examples of sustainable health programmes from Denmark and Scotland in a panel discussion moderated by Sandijs Semjonovs, journalist and host of the TV programme Vides fakti. Ilze Aizsilniece, President of the Latvian Medical Association, Baiba Ziemele from the network of Patient organisations in Latvia, as well as representatives from the RSU Institute of Public Health, student and young professionals' organisations will all attend the discussion.

Given the international nature of the event and its significant impact on potential policy decisions to improve the Latvian healthcare system, Latvian dentists, dental hygienists, other members of dental teams, and public health professionals are also invited to participate on Saturday. It should be underlined that the Latvian healthcare system is already on its way towards changing and is developing a system to pay for health rather than for treating illness by introducing a value-based healthcare model.
