RSU Innovation centre organises Life Sciences Breakfast to strengthen connection between science and business
The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Innovation Centre and the Riga Technical University (RTU) Science and Innovation Centre invite science and business leaders, as well as representatives of the deep technology community and startups, to the informative event Life Sciences Breakfast on 5 February. The event is organised as a satellite event of the startup and technology conference TechChill. The aim is to strengthen the connection between science and business, promoting the development of the next generation of biotechnology leaders.
During the event, participants will gain an insight into the dynamic field of natural sciences and get acquainted with the Baltic Biotechnology Action Plan, while also learning more about collaboration opportunities and support programs offered by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Knowledge and Innovation Communities, EIT Community and EIT Health, in Latvia.
Those representatives of startups present will have the opportunity to learn about ways to develop their biotechnology company on an international scale with the support of the Biocatalyst Foundation. Meanwhile, a representative of the new investment fund BuildIt VC will discuss the role of venture capital investment funds in creating innovations, as well as support opportunities for early-stage startups in Latvia and the conditions for granting funding.
Additionally, event attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the innovation directions, scientists, and latest technologies of the Baltic Biomaterials Centre of Excellence (BBCE), as well as the collaboration promotion program Rent a Scientist.
The event will offer a friendly environment for networking, exchanging ideas, and developing collaborations. Participants will also have access to an open microphone to introduce themselves, share ideas, and seek collaboration partners for their projects. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to meet international guests, including investors looking for new solutions.
The event will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 at the RTU Science and Innovation Centre (2nd floor, room "Mushroom", 6A Ķīpsalas iela, Riga). Following the event, from 11:00 to 12:00, participants will have a unique opportunity to go on a tour of the newly opened BBCE building and the well-equipped modern laboratories, where scientists from the RTU Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology's Institute of Biomaterials and Bioengineering research and synthesise human spare parts, or biomaterials, for bone and soft tissue regeneration, facial, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthopaedics, and other fields.
Registration (until 4 February)The event is free for attendees, but due to the limited number of places, participation is only possible with prior registration. The language of the event is English.
The event is organised by EIT Community RIS Hub Latvia represented by the RTU Science and Innovation Centre, EIT Health RIS Hub Latvia represented by Rīga Stradiņš University, and the biotechnology community foundation Biocatalyst.
