On 4 June, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted a Research Breakfast, this time dedicated to the theme “The journey home after a PhD abroad”.

The discussion focused on how researchers of Latvian origin continue their careers after completing studies abroad – whether they return to Latvia, collaborate with Latvian research institutions, or integrate into the international academic environment.
The speakers shared their professional paths and the challenges they faced after studying abroad:
- Kristīne Vaivode - Acting Researcher at the RSU Institute of Microbiology and Virology
- Zane Mitrevica - RSU International Rankings Data Analyst
The discussion was moderated and enriched with a personal perspective by Ieva Puzo, Head of the RSU Social Sciences Research Centre and lead researcher of the R(E)-TIES project.
