International Cooperation

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and the Sheba Medical Center signed a memorandum of understanding on 29 November during the Latvian-Israel Business Forum. The new memorandum will help strengthen collaboration between both institutions, which would benefit the students, academic staff, and researchers of both countries.

The memorandum outlines opportunities for closer and broader cooperation, including in research, short and long-term exchange visits for students, academic staff, and researchers, mutual coordination of networking events, and sharing research results and other academic information.

Sheba Medical Center is one of the most important academic and clinical centres of excellence in the Middle East, treating more than one million patients per year. Newsweek has ranked Sheba Medical Center among the top 10 best medical institutions in the world, highlighting its research and biotechnological innovations.

The collaboration between RSU and the centre dates back to a research project implemented by the Zabludowicz Center for Autoimmune Diseases and RSU's Institute of Microbiology and Virology. Both institutions collaborated on international projects in the field of autoimmune disease research. The memorandum of understanding provides for cooperation on a much broader range of topics.

The signing of the memorandum took place during the Latvia-Israel Business Forum, which is part of Latvia’s official visit to Israel.
