The 15th European Public Health Conference 'Strengthening health systems: improving population health and being prepared for the unexpected' took place in Berlin on 9–10 November.

The SHARE Latvia team was represented at the conference by researcher Ieva Reine, PhD (pictured). Reine participated with two oral poster presentations – 'Multi-method analysis of gender differences in psychological distress among the elderly during COVID' (authors: Courtney Queen, Madara Miķelsone, Rubini Pasupathy, Ieva Reine) and 'Healthcare accessibility since and during Covid-19 pandemic among older individuals in Europe' (authors: Madara Miķelsone, Ieva Reine).

Reine also presented two posters at the conference, one of which, 'Use of healthcare services and hospitalisation among elderly people in Latvia, was prepared together with Signe Dātava, a graduate of the RSU Public Health bachelor's programme. The other, 'Healthcare utilization among aging Latvians with diminished activities of daily living' was published with her colleagues from RSU and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (Courtney Queen and Rubini Pasupathy).

In addition, Reine moderated the conference session on The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reine's research is carried out within the postdoctoral project Challenges of Society Aging in the Baltic Sea Region (No. 1.1.1.2./VIAA/3/1/9/540).
