New international course on culture and health open for applications
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) invites cultural, health, and social sector professionals from across the Baltics to apply for a new and innovative micro-qualification course: “Culture and Health: Managing Cross-Sectoral Initiatives.” The course runs from September 2025 to June 2026 and is part of a wider Erasmus+ project titled Inclusive Wellbeing Through Arts and Culture in the Baltics (WITAC).
This international, interdisciplinary programme is developed by a consortium of four leading Baltic universities – the Latvian Academy of Culture, Rīga Stradiņš University, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, and the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences – in collaboration with the Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture.
The course is aimed at professionals in Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania who are engaged in or interested in cross-sectoral work at the intersection of culture and health. This includes:
cultural workers, artists, and creative practitioners active in community-based or socially engaged work;
health and social care professionals interested in integrating cultural approaches into well-being practices;
project managers, mediators, and policymakers involved in cross-sector initiatives at the intersection of culture and health.
Participants will explore how arts and culture can contribute to inclusive well-being, social change, and improved access for vulnerable communities. The course will equip them with practical tools and knowledge in participatory methods, arts-based approaches, and the planning and management of cross-sectoral initiatives. A key part of the learning experience is the development of a real-life pilot project in each participant’s local context, supported by mentoring from experienced professionals.
The programme comprises 250 academic hours, combining online and in-person sessions. It includes theoretical lectures, group work, practical assignments, and project-based learning. Upon completion, participants will receive a micro-certificate worth 10 ECTS.
Thanks to Erasmus+ funding, tuition is free for 20 selected participants. Applicants are required to submit a motivation letter outlining their interest, professional goals, and commitment to cross-sector collaboration, along with an up-to-date CV via the online application form.
