On Monday, 31 August at 13:00, the opening ceremony of the 2026/2027 academic year will take place in the courtyard of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) main building at 16 Dzirciema iela.
Following the completion of the first-year student integration activities ‘Students' First Stop’ for local students, and ‘Welcome Week’ for international students, we invite all first-year students to celebrate the beginning of the new academic year together.

- Conversations and games with the RSU Student Union
- Sports activities led by the RSU Sports Club
- Meet our mixed choir Rīga and the folk dance ensemble Ačkups to enjoy the rhythms of song and the steps of dance together
- Activities and discussions let by the RSU Business Incubator team
- Learn all about the new flash assistant Learning How to Learn
- Learn more about the services offered by the RSU Family Health Centre

Opening of academic year
- RSU Rector, Prof. Aigars Pētersons, will offer words of encouragement and valuable advice for your academic journey
- Greeting from RSU Student Union and words of inspiration for new students from International Student Association
- Opportunity to meet the university and faculty representatives in person
- Throughout the event, Latvian band The Bad Tones will be entertaining us with lively performances
The event will take place outdoors. Please check the weather forecast and bring an umbrella or a raincoat in case of rain!
