On 16 February at16.30 at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Medical Education Technology Centre, Room 146 a group of researchers from Heidelberg Neurology University Clinic will hold a workshop on the specifics of cortex auditivus of musicians and non-musicians, auditory perception research methods, music perception and music learning specifics for children with attention deficit (hyperactivity) syndrome and dyslexia. The participants of the workshop will be given the opportunity to take a sound perception test: subjective aspects of spectral and holistic pitch perception. The workshop is organised in cooperation with Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.

The group of researchers is led by PD Dr. rer.nat. Peter Schneider who is a church musician, biophysician and neuroscientist at Heidelberg Neurology University Clinic. His research areas cover music perception and neurology, musical talents, absolute and relative pitch, tinnitus, auditory problems contextually with learning disorders and attention deficit (hyperactivity) syndrome. From 2009 he is leading a project financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research on music training and neuroplasticity.

The seminar is being organised by RSU Department of Health Psychology and Pedagogy and staff from the Department of Rehabilitation study programme Art therapy in conjunction with the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.
