The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) International Student Conference, Health and Social Sciences, was a long-awaited event that took place on 27 and 28 March despite the declaration of a state of emergency in Latvia. It took place entirely online for the first time in 70 years.

It will go ahead on 27 and 28 March despite the coronavirus and the declaration of a state of emergency in Latvia. Marija Luīze Kalniņa, the Project Manager of the conference, talks about how the conference will be organised this year and how the organisers are doing.
On Thursday 9 April at 12:00 (noon) Dr Artūrs Ancāns from the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will hold an open discussion in English on methods for overcoming stress in crisis situations.
On Thursday 26 March at 12:00 (noon) Dr Artūrs Ancāns from the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will hold an open discussion in English on methods for overcoming stress in crisis situations.
The discussion will take place online and is designed to give participants time to reflect on the state of uncertainty and agitation that we are all currently experiencing.
The session will, among other things, cover the following topics:
A training course was held on 20 March in the Clinic of Emergency Medicine and Patient Admission of the Riga East University Hospital to test doctors' skills and responses to patients who might have COVID-19. The training was led by Reinis Balmaks, senior simulation instructor at the RSU Medical Education Technology Center, who gave an assessment and a summary of the doctors after the training concluded.

Associate Professor and psychiatrist Biruta Kupča had been working for Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) for nearly 50 years and was granted the title of Professor Emeritus at the end of last year.
