EIT Health Latvia invites students and researchers to join the EIT Jumpstarter programme and make 2025 the sixth consecutive year that Latvia takes home a Jumpstarter prize. Jumpstarter programme, a flagship pre-accelerator initiative by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), supports innovators in transforming their ideas into successful start-ups, offering mentorship, funding opportunities, and access to a European innovation network.

Līga Andersone will defend her doctoral dissertation on 25 February at 14.00 in an open meeting of the RSU Economics and Entrepreneurship doctoral committee online on Zoom. Her dissertation is titled 'The Role of EU Strategies and Support Programmes in Economic and Business Environment Enhancement in Central Asia.'

Jevgeņijs Stepanovs will defend his doctoral dissertation on 25 February at 14.00 in an open meeting of the RSU Clinical Medicine doctoral committee in the Hippocrates Lecture Theatre in the RSU Main Building and on Zoom. His dissertation is titled 'Thromboelastometry for Microvascular Flap Thrombosis Risk Assessment in Trauma Patients Undergoing Reconstructive Surgery.'

An additional 200 places have opened up on the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) team that will run in the Rimi Riga Marathon 2025. The marathon will take place on 18 May 2025! This year marks the marathon's 35th anniversary.

Students and staff are welcome to represent their university and run with the RSU team. In order to register, sign up for your chosen race, use the code 2025MARATHONRSU276 and pay 50% by credit card. Do not share the code!

In recent years, facing global crises such as the pandemic, ongoing wars, climate change, and other transformations, the number of young people experiencing various mental health issues— including anxiety and depression—has increased both in Latvia and worldwide. A research team from Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) and Riga Technical University (RTU) is collaborating on a National Research Programme (NRP) project to better understand youth mental health post-pandemic.
