Māris Liepiņš will defend his doctoral dissertation on 12 November at 15:00 in an open meeting of the RSU Health & Sports Sciences doctoral committee. His dissertation is titled 'Duration of Carriage of Multidrug-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii and Its Impact on Infection Control Measures and Antimicrobial Use.'
A workshop on Human Papilloma Virus Infection and Cervical Cancer (LZP project 2021/1-0484) was held Friday, 25 October 2024. The agenda included a research session with RSU researchers and an open session for patients, discussing the significance of HPV testing, screening approaches, and the role of vaccines. The research session of the event was conducted in English, but the open session was in Latvian.
This year, the comprehensive national defence exercise Namejs 2024 took place from 3 September to 8 October. This military exercise, organised by the National Armed Forces, is an opportunity to develop and improve Latvia's defence capabilities by bringing together Latvian and allied forces to strengthen cooperation and combat readiness.
On 8 October, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted a discussion on the training of sports professionals and future trends. The discussion, which was attended by 25 participants, including sport industry experts, representatives from RSU and the RSU Latvian Academy of Sports Education (LASE), looked into sports science study programmes and considered proposals for how they could be improved and developed to provide quality study opportunities for future sports specialists in the near future.

Between 2017 to 2024, students from the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Communication (now the Faculty of Social Sciences) went on several expeditions to visit Latvians in Iceland, together with their lecturers. The content of the exhibition is based on the material from the first and the last expedition (so far), which took place in the summer of 2024. Some of the protagonists in the exhibition, whom we met seven years ago, have told their Iceland stories from two different points in time. Some have changed - grown up - in that time.
