RSU honours its best medical students

On Wednesday, 8 November, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Medicine honoured its best students for their outstanding academic performance in the 2022/2023 academic year. This event took place in the Great Hall and was held for the second consecutive year.

Kārlis Rācenis will defend his doctoral dissertation on 18 December at 15.00 in an open meeting of the RSU Clinical Medicine Committee in the Hippocrates lecture theatre (16 Dzirciema iela) as well as online. His dissertation is titled 'Antimicrobial Activity of Bacteriophages in Multidrug-Resistant and Biofilm Associated Infections'.

Nauris Zdanovskis will defend his doctoral dissertation on 13 December at 13:00 in an open meeting of the RSU Clinical Medicine Committee in the Hippocrates Auditorium (16 Dzirciema iela) as well as online. His dissertation is titled 'Brain Qualitative and Quantitative Radiological Biomarker Association with Cognitive Impairment and Dementia'.

Last week, students from all over Latvia met at the i-Days hackathon organised by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology Health Community (EIT Health) and Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), at which they searched for ideas to preventive health. The highest score of the hackathon jury was awarded to the team Echelon, which was made up of students from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences.

Dace Žibala

Dace Žibala, lecturer and manager of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Language Centre, celebrated a milestone birthday in the summer. It was a great reason to talk to her and get to know her better.

How long have you been working at RSU?

My life has been closely intertwined with RSU for 34 years, and I have never seriously considered changing my workplace. I am truly proud to belong to the RSU community.
