We live in a time when traditional social values are being re-evaluated and changed, which raises many moral and ethical issues. One of them is whether to swear, i.e. whether using rude, insulting, abusive words and expressions is good or bad. Klāvs Sedlenieks, an associate professor at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), a social anthropologist and Head of the Social Anthropology masters’ study program, explains what swearing is.

RSU Doctoral School Will Create Opportunities for New Researchers

On January 8 Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) opened the RSU Doctoral School - a platform for prospective and current PhD students, applicants, researchers and lecturers. The aim of the Doctoral School is to facilitate faster flow of information, a quality doctoral experience and to develop professional competencies in an interdisciplinary environment.

37 Doctoral Students Graduate From RSU

37 students graduated from various doctoral study programmes at Rīga Stradiņš Universiy (RSU) in 2019. They received their certificates at a ceremony on 11 December. Among them were doctoral students in medicine, law, pharmacy, communication, political science and sociology. The Minister of Health Ilze Viņķele, RSU Rector Professor Aigars Pētersons, Vice-Rector for Science Agrita Kiopa, the Dean of the Department of Doctoral Studies Prof. Sandra Lejniece, Vice-Rector for Health Studies Prof. Guntis Bahs and others were there to congratulate the graduates.
