Pauls Stradiņš Award winner announced

The winner of Pauls Stradiņš Award is traditionally announced on 17 January, the birthday of professor Pauls Stradiņš. This year the award goes to Professor Alfredo Musajo Somma for his contribution to strengthening the role of Latvia, the Latvian Association of Medical Historians, Rīga Stradiņš University and Pauls Stradiņš Museum of the History of Medicine among medical historians on the international scale.

Maksims Čistjakovs

Maksims Čistjakovs, researcher at the RSU Institute of Microbiology and Virology, already started to think of himself as a researcher in Grade 11 at secondary school. Back then, a young biology teacher started working at his school; and he roused interest with his passion and knowledge and, as it turned out later, laid the foundations for Maksims' career. The young researcher was inspired by molecular biology in particular, because it helps in the study of various molecular mechanisms in the human body and even look for new medicines and test them.

RSU Language afternoon

On 28 November, the Language Centre organised Language Afternoon, which has already become a steady tradition. The aim of this event is to promote a willingness to learn new languages and become acquainted with the traditions and culture of other countries.

At Rīga Stradiņš University, many different languages are spoken on a daily basis. While studying and working in a multicultural environment, we can truly appreciate how important foreign language skills are, because, as we all know, language is a bridge to learning other cultures, traditions and values.
